About OC Pom Rescue

OC Pom Rescue was founded in February 2020 by three women who have over ten years of dog rescue and Pomeranian-owning experience. We are entirely volunteer-run and have an incredible team of fosters and volunteers all across Southern California.

The Founders

Jasmine

Jasmine is our Chief Executive Officer and a lifelong animal advocate. Jasmine has years of experience running nonprofit organizations, and manages our volunteer relations. She specializes in working with needy dogs and those that have attention deficits. She co-founded OC Pom rescue with the desire to make dog adoption more accessible to those wanting to rescue dogs in need. She hopes to educate others on the reality of dog homelessness and neglect, while promoting awareness of compassionate adoption methods. Jasmine studied Art in the Claire Trevor School of Arts at UCI, and also works as a freelance fine artist.

Sondra

Sondra is our Chief Financial Officer. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Finance from UCR and is now a Senior Financial Analyst at Curtiss-Wright. Sondra has been a lifelong dog lover and advocate! She co-founded OC Pom Rescue to further her passion for saving dogs in need. Sondra offers key insight into the financial aspect of managing a successful nonprofit, while promoting compassion and breed education. Sondra is a mother of two children, who love to be involved in rehabilitating and caring for rescue dogs. She specializes in leash, skills, and potty training. We always love to see what new tricks her fosters learn!

Emily

Emily is our Chief Marketing Officer and has worked with animals since 2014. She specializes in training and socializing dogs that have extreme behavioral issues and often takes in fosters that have been labeled as aggressive by shelters and previous owners. She co-founded OC Pom Rescue with the purpose of working against profit-based industries that target small breed dogs for entertainment and short-term ownership. She hopes to flip the script on how animals are viewed by educating about their sentience and right to life. She is a student at Whittier College double majoring in mathematics and mechanical engineering. She also volunteers at Wetlands Wildlife Care Center in Huntington Beach.

Why We Rescue

Between the thousands of homeless dogs on any given day in California and the dog retail industry of puppy mills and backyard breeders, dogs are constantly suffering from abuse, neglect, abandonment, and irresponsible ownership. There is no shortage of amazing dogs from shelters, humane societies, or previous owners! Our purpose as a rescue is to give every dog a second chance (or a third or fourth!) and a loving forever home. You can find any type of breed, age, or size rescue dog - it just requires some patience and time!

OC Pom Rescue hopes to make the dog adoption process enjoyable and rewarding for first-time and repeat dog owners alike. We work diligently to match our applicants with the right rescue dogs for their home, lifestyle, and needs. We also strive to promote awareness and education about the Pomeranian breed and its characteristics, needs, and traits.

Through our heavy social media presence and connections with shelters, fellow rescues, and company partnerships, our dogs receive the visibility and networking they require in order to be adopted. Rescue is an ongoing effort that just takes love, patience, and awareness.
