Louis is a sweet and gentle pup! He suffers from a severe collapsed trachea, obesity, and a grade 3 heart murmur. Louis came to us with mats and an overgrown coat. We immediately took him to our vet to get his updated shots and get a thorough exam from our vet. They recommended bloodwork and an xray, considering his age and physical examination. The x-ray revealed his trachea and heart condition. It was on his drive home from the vet that Louis began to rapidly decline: his breathing became rapid and wheezy. His foster drove him back to the vet where they put him on oxygen and gave him antihistamines for a possible reaction. He was eventually transported to an ER to continue oxygen and observation over night. The vet determined that Louis was not having an allergic reaction, but was suffering from the stress of being abandoned. His high stress combined with his deteriorating tracheal condition made it to where he needed to be put on oxygen. He is stable now and being moved back into his foster's home to decompress and remain there for the rest of his years.
