This distinguished gentleman is past the antics of puppyhood and ready to charm you with his steely grey locks, killer smile and the sweet temperament you’d expect from a dog who’s lived long enough to tell a few tales. Meet Lincoln! He’s handsome, he’s kind and we wish we could know his entire story. We’ve just got a little and we’re sure there’s so much more…..

Lincoln entered the Kern County shelter with the decks stacked against him. A senior dog with a limp probably wasn’t going to find a home, but Lincoln waited. When his family didn’t come looking he held out hope for adoption. But adopters just passed him by. He was fluffy and sweet but still no one wanted to meet. Eventually he was out of time and almost out of luck. He was given 24 hours to exit the shelter before his life came to an end. A good dog facing a horrible outcome. We couldn’t let that happen and Lincoln was in luck. One of our foster families decided to give him the yes he needed and save his life.

Lincoln has quickly settled into his foster home and is very dog friendly. He hasn’t met another canine he didn’t like. Although a senior guy he’s still got some pep to his step and will happily follow you from room to room just to hang out and be part of the pack. He’s fine tuning his house training skills and crates perfectly both overnight and during the day when his foster leaves the house. Lincoln hasn’t complained about much and has the chill easy going nature we love with the senior guys. Even though he has the occasional limp he gets around great and it doesn’t hold him back. We suspect his limp is an unresolved patella issue but with his age we prefer to just keep tabs on it and not put him through an extensive and painful surgery. Lincoln is now looking for the perfect retirement home. A home where age is just a number and love is limitless. Could that home be yours?
