Quiche is a 4-year-old, 14-pound bundle of joy ready to find her forever family! This sweet girl has an incredible story of resilience and is blossoming into a confident and loving companion. Rescued from a slaughterhouse in South Korea, Quiche struggled to settle down or relax. Thanks to the loving care of her foster person and support from OC Pom, Quiche has made incredible progress. A trainer has been instrumental in helping her navigate this transition. She's quickly mastered "sit," "wait" (especially useful for crossing streets!), and even understands how to self-soothe by retreating to her bed. She is learning that her bed is her safe haven, but due to her traumatic past, she should not be crated. The presence of crates triggers significant anxiety for her. Removing crates from her environment has significantly improved her overall calmness.
Quiche is incredibly smart and eager to please, and she's caught on quickly to her routine. She is on a low dose of anxiety meds at the moment to help her transition into domestic life. She's the perfect "little spoon" and loves snuggling up in bed. When she's feeling a little anxious, sometimes she'll even gently scratch at the bedroom door, requesting to go lay down in bed so she can get extra cuddles in a quiet place – and who can resist that face?
As Quiche builds trust, she's becoming more social with new people. She's started to engage with friendly strangers on walks, allowing them to pet her, but always looking back to her foster for reassurance. Quiche absolutely loves her walks! Her morning walks are her favorite time of day. She excitedly zig-zags along the leash, thrilled to be outside exploring. We think she'd thrive in a home with someone who enjoys daily adventures. A long walk (her foster takes her for an hour each morning, plus two shorter walks) is a must, and a yard or balcony would be a dream come true for this energetic girl. She plays fetch and loves to run!
Quiche is completely unbothered by cats. She's had friendly encounters with the neighbors cats while visiting their home, simply allowing them to rub against her and greet her, without any reaction at all (and the cats seem to be very interested in her, and unafraid - which is not their normal pattern either!).
Quiche has two main modes: 1) pure, unadulterated joy (especially on walks!) and 2) cuddly, sleepy contentment. No matter what she's doing, she's always smiling! Quiche has a 3/4 luxating patella in one of her back knees, but it doesn't slow her down one bit! She loves to run, play, and jump, living life to the fullest.
Quiche is pee pad and outdoor potty trained (she will only use the pads for #1). Her foster is diligently working on her table manners (she arrived with a strong "seagull at the beach" approach!) and self-soothing techniques. She also experiences separation anxiety, and her new family should be prepared to continue her training with patience and understanding.
If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate, and adventurous companion, and you have the patience and dedication to continue her training and support, Quiche might be your perfect match! She's ready to fill your home with love, laughter, and a truly special bond.
