Diva

Female

16 Years

8 Pounds

Diva is a precious little girl who would love nothing more than to have someone dote on her all day.  Although she’s 16 yrs old, she still has get-up and go and enjoys short walks.  She’s quite mellow during the day (lots of dog naps in her favorite bed) and is quite happy to be near her people.  She can be a bit skittish when approached, but that is remedied with a slow approach and soft voice.  She’s 50/50 using potty pads.  Her preference is to be let outside to do her business.  If you’re unable to keep track of her potty cues a diaper helps keep potty mishaps under control.

Diva’s health is good.  Her current diet is Hill’s Prescription Diet i/d, low fat Digestive Care pate. She has one tooth and it’s difficult to manage the pate unless it’s puree’d. A blender along with some bone broth to thin out the consistency works best.  She has a slight tracheal cough it’s being managed with hydrocodone.  The dosage is every 12 hours, but we’ve found that one dose in the evening (injected into her food) allows her to sleep with no to minimal coughing during the night.  Daytime coughing is minimal and usually only happens if she’s startled or when humidity levels are low.  Her knees are worn and she’s unable to go up and down stairs.  However, her knees do not prevent her from galloping around like a little puppy when she’s excited.

Diva is aloof around other dogs but will stand her ground (a bark or a growl) if her space is invaded.  She can be like this with people as well.  It’s only because she’s a little nervous.

The best home environment for Diva would be quiet/peaceful and without children.  She’s elderly, doesn’t play, and needs to be handled gently.  Ideally a home with one dog/cat and preferably someone who is home most of the time.  Someone with loads of love, hugs and kisses to offer this little girl.

In summary, she’s a sweetheart and can provide companionship and comfort for someone willing to offer the same to her.  She’s not a bother whatsoever, doesn’t get into things, bark or cause a ruckus when someone rings/knocks at the front door.
