Winifred

Winifred is ready to start the life new she deserves! Winifred “Winnie” is between 4-6 years-old, weighs 8 pounds and is a beautiful dark sable color with blue spots in her eyes. She started her life as a breeder dog with matted fur and infections in her ears and eyes. Luckily, Winnie ended up with OC Pom Rescue and has been happily placed in a foster home living with three other poms with whom she’s had no behavioral issues whatsoever.

While being fostered, she is learning to use stairs, to walk on a leash and how to use a doggy door. She is mostly house trained but is still prone to accidents especially in times of stress. She’s a hearty eater and rarely barks.

Winnie is super sweet and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body, but she is under socialized and can be slightly timid. She appears to be more trusting of women than men, but she seems to warm up to people with encouragement, extra love and treats. She paces at times when feeling nervous, but we just say, “she’s getting her steps in”.

Once relaxed, Winnie loves getting pets and snuggling up in a lap. Because of her history, we want to find a home where Winnie is allowed up on the furniture to ensure that she can get close to her people. We believe Winnie will do best in a home free of small children, with patient pawrents willing to put in the time to make sure she will thrive in this next chapter of her life.
